This page is designed to raise awareness of issues that are facing our families, communities and future. It is about awareness and taking action. I have a deep desire to inform my readers of the real issues that are facing our families and communities. It is my hope that after reading these articles, you are moved with compassion and TAKE ACTION.
We have all heard a story in the news that pierced our hearts. Our response too often is..."That's sad... someone ought to do something about that." Well, guess what, that someone may be you!
Wondering what you can do to change the lifes of our youth? Wondering how you can contribute to the future of our community and this world?
You can make a difference in the life of our youth, you cam make an impact on our community.
I welcome you to read the article: "Are we failing our children? and learn of an opportunity to sow into the life of our young leaders of tomorrow.

I attended a homeowner’s association meeting to learn about things going on in our neighborhood. We received the usual report that our pool was closed because neigborhood kids destroyed the outdoor furniture, and facilities. We were there to offer solutions most of which recommended installing taller, stronger fences, more secure stronger gates, video cameras, and promoted the use of security access cards. I left the meeting upset, I thought, “Is what we are proposing really going to solve the problem?” At that moment I realized that we are missing the real issue -our kids. What are we doing to teach our kids to value the community and more importantly themselves. The question became: "Are we failing our children?" What are we going to do about the real issues that are facing our children.
Ironically, around the same time, my mother-in-law asked me if I would put a talk together to share something to motivate the kids to be more positive. My husband and I immediately knew what we would share, the poem " A Return To Love," by Marianne Williamson. THe children recited the poem with me and to our suprise several of the children took the poem with them, some of the parents even took a copy.
That same day at the family picnic, I had an opportunity to speak with my husband’s 16 year old niece, while we sat in the room together feeding our children (Me with my 3 month old son on my lap and she with her one year old resting gently on her pregnant belly.) Curiosity and concern prompted me to ask her of her plans after delivering her second child. She surprised me with her well thought out answer. "I plan to go back to school, she said. And after I have this baby I plan to get on birth control." She proceeded to tell me of school programs that will provide childcare for young mothers while they attend classes. I was happy about what my ears were hearing. Here she was willing to admit her mistake, even encouraging her sister and friends not to follow this same path, yet courageous enough to pursue options to continue her education. I encouraged her and asked her to call me or write me, but in my heart I felt that I needed to do more. I was tired of the lip service, the "I will pray for you, and the call me or write me." I knew she probably wouldn’t write and probably wouldn’t call either. I decided however that that wouldn’t stop me from helping her.
Here is my opportunity to make a difference. I decided that I would assist her in the pursuit of her education by providing periodic encouragement, financial help and school supplies. This could be the answer to her prayers!
